About Dr. Beth Cujé, LPC, LMFT

Credentials

Dr. Cujé holds a Doctoral Degree and a Masters Degree in Counseling and Human Development from The George Washington University. She entered Georgetown University at the age of seventeen and graduated three years later with a Bachelors Degree in Languages (French, German and Italian) and Linguistics.

Dr. Beth Blevins Cujé is a licensed professional counselor, marriage and family therapist, and state approved supervisor of counselors. She conceived and developed the Choice-Cube Method during her more than twenty-seven years of private practice.

Work Experience

Between 1980 and 1991, in addition to her private practice as a psychotherapist, Dr. Cujé taught and supervised graduate students at The George Washington University where she was a part-time member of the faculty. She left teaching to devote herself to her demanding psychotherapy practice and to writing. Prior to her work in private practice, Dr. Cujé was a consultant and trainer in both private industry and various government agencies including the State Department and the Central Intelligence Agency.

Professional Experience

In her role as a psychotherapist and educator, Dr. Cujé has presented papers for many professional associations including the American Counseling Association, Virginia Mental Health Counselors Association, and Christian Association for Psychological Studies. She was the Plenary Speaker for the Virginia Humanities Conference and has given talks at the Northern Virginia Re-Entry Women's Employment Center Conference. She has been a spokesperson for the Northern Virginia Mental Health Association. She has presented numerous workshops on her Choice-Cube Method in both secular and Christian settings.

Professional Associations

She is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), the American Counseling Association (ACA), and the Christian Association for Psychological Studies (CAPS). She is certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) and a Clinical Member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT).

Before becoming a therapist, Dr. Cujé performed opera professionally. A gifted singer, she began performing classical pieces at the age of sixteen. Her last concert at Carnegie Recital Hall in 1971. featured pieces from Aida by Verdi as well as songs of Brahms, Schubert, and Poulenc. Dr. Cujé is the mother of two sons and the grandmother of three. She lives in a high-rise building in Arlington where she enjoys a spectacular view of our nation's capitol.
